What is Cetilistat  for ?

Cetilistat was jointly developed by Norgine and Takeda. Cetilistat was approved by PMDA in Japan on September 20, 2013. It was marketed by Takeda in Japan under the brand name Oblean®.

Cellistat is an inhibitor of pancreatic lipase, an enzyme that breaks down triglycerides in the intestine. Cellistat and orlistat before it both work by inhibiting pancreatic lipase. Without pancreatic lipase, triglycerides obtained from the diet are excreted directly because they cannot be hydrolyzed into absorbable free fatty acids. The drug is indicated for the treatment of obesity complications, limited to patients with co-existing type 2 diabetes mellitus and dyslipidemia, and patients with a BMI greater than 25 kg/m2 despite undergoing diet and exercise control therapy.is available as an oral tablet containing 120 mg cellistat. The recommended dose is 120mg, 3 times a day, immediately after meals.
