[Indications and uses]

BRIVIACT is indicated as adjunctive therapy for the treatment of partial seizure epilepsy in patients 16 years of age and older who have epilepsy.

[Dosage and administration]

⑴ The recommended starting dose is 50 mg twice daily. The dose may be adjusted downward to 25 mg twice daily (50 mg daily) or to 100 mg twice daily (200 mg daily), depending on individual patient tolerability and treatment response.

⑵ BRIVIACT injection may be used when oral administration is transient and not feasible.

⑶ Liver damage: for all stages of liver damage, the recommended starting dose is 25 mg twice daily; The maximum dose is 75 mg twice daily.

[Dosage form and specification]

[Contraindication]

Any hypersensitivity to buiscitan or the inactive ingredient in BRIVIACT.

[Warnings and Precautions]

Suicidal behavior and ideation: Monitor patients for suicidal behavior and ideation.

Neurological side effects: monitor for drowsiness and fatigue, and advise patients not to drive or operate machinery until they have had sufficient experience with BRIVIACT.

Psychiatric adverse reactions: Behavioral reactions include psychiatric symptoms, irritability, depression, aggressive behavior, and anxiety; Monitor the patient for symptoms.

Hypersensitivity: bronchospasm and angioedema: Notify client to seek immediate medical attention. Do not start BRIVIACT again if hypersensitivity is terminated.

Antiepileptic withdrawal: BRIVIACT should be withdrawn gradually.

[Adverse reactions]

The most common adverse reactions (at least 5% for BRIVIACT and at least 2% more frequently than placebo) were drowsiness/sedation, dizziness, fatigue, and nausea/vomiting.

[Drug interaction]

(1) Rifampin: An increase in the dose of BRIVIACT in patients with Rifampin is recommended because of the reduced concentration of BRIVIACT.

⑵ Carbamazepine: reduction of Carbamazepine dose in BRIVIACT patients should be considered because of increased exposure to Carbamazepine metabolites, if tolerance problems arise.

(3) Phenytoin: Because concentrations of Phenytoin may increase, and Phenytoin levels should be monitored in patients taking BRIVIACT.

(4) Levetiracetam: When combined with Levetiracetam, BRIVIACT did not increase therapeutic benefit.

【 Used in special groups 】

Pregnancy: possible risk to the fetus based on animal data.

[Medication for pregnant women]

It is not known whether BRIVIACT is excreted in human milk. Excretion of buisetam in breast milk has been shown in rat studies.

Because many drugs are excreted into human milk, a decision should be made whether to discontinue breastfeeding or BRIVIACT, considering the importance of the drug to the mother.
